The leaves rustle in the wind
As if a symphony for the grass to dance,
Like an epiphany memories of her childhood swarm in her mind
Like bees react to honey,
The wind embraces her skin
She feels the sanctity.

The tree symbolizes she
Security of the environment
Resembles strength,
Stands tall through all rainy days
She knows she can succeed.

Her dreams to travel the globe
With that unmistakable gem,
The one you won’t live without
A soul mate to call her own,
Big step to her dream.

In her poem “Unforeseen Motivations”, Shayla compares things of nature to herself. She centered the poem to give off the feel of finally the speaker being centered in her life. The poem begins with an image of grass dancing to the sound of the leaves blowing through the wind. In the first stanza you get the feeling that the speaker truly enjoys nature and it brings her to peace of mind. In the second stanza the speaker brings up a topic of nature again when she describes herself as a tree. We know that a tree is strong and a big part of nature. Shayla uses lots of diction to make the reader feel as if their inside of the poem. The poem itself is about a girl, who while sitting outside thinking, unmistakably sees an unforeseen sort of motivation from the things around her and her thoughts. The way the wind supports the leaves to bring happiness to the grass, the way her walk down memory lane gives her a sense of warmth, the way the tree symbolizes and stands through so many challenges, and the way she is motivated to find her gem, her soul mate that’s out there somewhere in the world you see a lot of motivation.
