We zoom by
faster
better
lighter.
Not realizing what surrounds us simply because we're
better
faster.
The sun's rays cast a shadow
yet we pay no attention to our own dicombobulated figure
on the man-made concrete.
We walk with no pupose,
but simply to be
better
faster,
passing by the occasional daisy
that can never be
better or
faster.
It simply is what it is,
and that's all it needs to be.
We zoom by
faster
better
lighter,
as a lone crow sits on a broken branch,
watching the madness in us that ensues.

The author's comments:
I was outside one day in my creative writing class, and I noticed how fast the cars in the street seemed to pass the nature around them. We often find ourselves caught up in the need to be better, when sometimes all we need to do is step back and look at all that we are.
