The Shades of Lie
White lies are small.
Weakly told for selfish reasons,
Weekly or daily or hourly
When you want to avoid confrontation:
“Well I don’t think that dress makes you look fat.”
Red lies are passionate with
Rage or love.
Riled up with feeling
Ranging to a certain extreme:
“Really, I hate you! I swear!”
Orange lies are happy,
Optimistic in fact!
Or some might say delusional.
Only told to keep you sane:
“Oh don’t, worry! The economy will be okay soon!”
Yellow lies are barely lies.
Your intentions are good.
You know the lie will one day get out:
“Yes Santa is coming tonight!”
Green lies are told to yourself.
Growing jealousy
Gobbles up honesty and
Gets you self-conscious for no
Good reason:
“Gosh I look so ugly!”
Blue lies are just sad.
Brought on by depression
Because you feel hopeless,
But yet you still put on that smile:
“Believe me, I’m fine.”
Purple lies are
Political. Making
Promises you can’t keep.
Pitiful attempts to be of some royalty:
“People of America, vote for me and I promise to end world hunger!”
Black lies are dangerous.
By far the worse. You are a
Bum if you tell them,
Bringing the innocent down with you:
“Baby trust me, you’re safe with me.”
