A Reminder of an Old Friend
We all keep a little reminder of the past.
Whether it be a picture
Or a friendship bracelet
Or just a plain old memory.
For me it was a drawing.
Something to remind me of a friend.
I BEGGED
for him to do it.
I ANNOYED
him for weeks.
I didn’t CARE
What it was about.
I just wanted A drawing.
I wasn’t asking for him to make an art portfolio.
He took FOREVER to draw the picture.
Artist these days can sure be lazy.
He had people on waiting list.
I guess he thought he was Da Vinci and the drawing was the Mona Lisa.
All of this begging
Just for it to sit in a dusty old folder
Filled with old artwork
Years of my fake artistic vision.
That ONE drawing
Sitting there
Outshining all of my work.
It didn’t deserve that.
To be sitting in a folder
Growing old.
NO.
It deserved to be
SEEN
ADMIRED
Rather than live in a folder for eternity.
Why Not?
It was one of a kind.
So I let it.
It now resides on the back of my notebook.
