Daisy Candle Co.
As a child, I loved candles
I spent hours in Wal-Mart
Smelling every fragrance,
So delicious, I mixed molten wax,
Experimenting, creating, into my own
At age twelve, I received a kit
One, unscented, blue paraffin candle resulted
Disappointment, I yearned for the aroma
Ten-pounds created five spiced-apple candles
I was in love.
Two years, and many candles later,
I tried soy wax
Fifty pounds, four scents, eight dozen mason jars.
At seventeen, I buy two-hundred pounds of organic soy
Craft shows, Spoon River Scenic Drive, 2013.
I call it Daisy Candle Company
Because of my dog, Daisy
Who attracted my first sale, three years ago
I love all the colors, smells, and the way they burn
I love candles.
