Honesty
Honesty?
It smells like the rain droplets after they hit the pavement
A musty, not so pleasant scent,
Yet that smell lets you know something beautiful just happened
Millions of raindrops just pitter-pattered along the curb
Guaranteeing sunshine will follow
Honesty brings pain and shows true colors
Varying in vibrancy and value
Yet this pain it brings
We somehow know it won’t last forever
That this tart taste of a bruised apple will soon slip off your tongue and free your taste buds,
Kind of like the way the words accidentally slipped out of your “friend’s” mouth
But, honesty, honesty can be a trap
Honesty is what holds us together,
Yet can so violently pull us apart.
It’s black and dark.
You can be lost in a thousand of dark truths, and never discover which were the real truths in which you could rejoice in
Now, you could say people with this view are pessimistic.
I’d like to think of these people as smart.
These people who question the truth and sincerity in honesty are the ones who can hear with not just their ears
They hear between what people say
They don’t listen to the gentle spirit telling their naïve souls to trust everything they hear
They hear the roughness
The jaw-clenching, tingle of nails on a chalkboard
That’s what they choose to hear
That’s what they have learned
They’ve learned from experience
They’ve learned from honesty whispering in their ear to be cautious
Honesty itself, is vital
