skin and bones
I cough
And my thin body doubles over
My bony wrists and hands cover my mouth
I feel like a wounded bird
 Fragile and small
 But wants to take flight
 I can’t fly
 Without getting better
 But the doctor
 Said
 They can’t do anything more
They can only make my time less miserable
So they pump me full of drugs
 Things that dull my senses
 And make me
 Not me
But someone who I barely recognize
 A thin girl
 Coughing up blood
 Waiting to die
