Jessica Lynn
You were the best friend I’ve ever had,
And now,
You’re gone.
The first and possibly the only,
To truly love me,
I wished this day wouldn’t come,
But it always comes.
Entropy calls us all.
All you can do is hope,
to outrun it for
A while.
But you got too slow,
And it has caught you,
As you lie in my arms,
The breaths slowing,
And slowing,
Slowing,
Slowing
Stopping.
I think back on these,
These 12 years of my life,
And no matter the day,
You were always there.
A constant,
In an otherwise changing world.
The good,
And the bad.
The Love,
The Anger,
The Tears,
The Pain,
The stories I told you,
But you didn’t judge me.
You never could.
So I let go.
You have been by my side,
For so long,
That the world itself,
Seems to crumble,
Without you here.
Tell me this.
Who am I,
Now that you are gone?
I weep,
But not for the past,
But for the future,
That might have been,
But will never be.
And yet,
that future
It still would be too short.
The light is blurred,
It seems as though,
Nothing is clear without you.
I know it is my tears as I weep,
And yet,
I cannot help but think,
Without you by my side,
I am blind.
You were far too forgiving,
Of my wrongdoings,
But I am glad.
For if you had not,
I’m not sure how long,
I would’ve lasted.
You saved my life,
But you did not know it.
Jessica Lynn
You have been and always will be,
The best dog and friend I will ever have.
