Education For All
I don’t know how to read.
I don’t know how to write.
Although I can’t learn,
and gender is the reason why.
Seeing all the boys,
go to and from school
filling their minds
with knowledge they’ve learned.
I stay at home.
Day in and day out
Cooking,
Cleaning,
Taking care of everyone.
Not even time to play,
women only do what
women are supposed to do
So many stereotypes
deny us education
Our only use is for the home,
why can’t we provide for ourselves?
Education is an amazing thing,
improving women’s
lives, minds, health,
but we don’t get that chance.
The government says they’re improving
gender equality,
but we all know nothing has been done.
Nobody cares.
Nobody’s listening.
We have nobody.
Nothing’s going to change
but
something must change.
Everybody’s talking,
but nobody’s doing.
So many stereotypes
deny us education
Only use is for the home...
why can’t we provide for ourselves?
No more waiting
for something to happen,
the time is now.
