Walking With your Boots in the sand
The sun beating down
A gun in your hand
You can’t find a smile to replace your frown
You read your letters every night
Hoping your tears don’t make you drown
You tuck yourself in and turn out the light
Dreaming your family is around
While you are yearning against the dusty sky
Trying too hard and wondering why
A reason to fight
Or a reason to die
You taste the wind
And make your tears dry.
