Harder than it sounds

All this time I’ve been trying to become the person I wanted to be;
When looking in the mirror, always trying to change what I see.
Now all I want is to return to the bad jokes, the laughter,
The smile that came so easily.
I want to go back to being happy,
I want to go back to being me.
