Silence
He is the boy who can not stand up,
Trapped in the cage of fear and opinions,
Unwelcome to those around him.
She is the girl, with a mind of her own,
Unafraid to speak up, but unable to make sounds.
Her speech shows nothing if no one listens.
Silence is the victims of fear.
No one speaks up, and they simply disappear.
Onto lists and facts and figures and statistics.
Silence is everyone, too frightened to say
What they really think or what’s on their mind.
Silence is nothing, no one, alone.
We are what we think, what we speak.
But if we can not speak, who are we to those around us?
Ignored and slinking off into shadows.
Keeping quiet, knowing the ears are closed
To those who don’t agree with Popular Opinion.
