Walls covered in lockers
Patterned in shades of orange.
It looks like a hall of mirrors.
Everywhere I look I see
Myself, my past.
I can feel the heat radiate
Down on my skin
Under the skylights.
I see the wall of fame
Where past teachers are honored.
I see my face,
Smiling like the sun.
This was my past.
My sanctuary when
All was not well.
My cool breeze on
A hot summer day.
This was my home
For twenty years.
Now it was all slipping away.
As I walk throught the dark,
Abandoned halls
I now know that my past
has faded away.
