Nearly Dusk
Pale leaves shimmer,
bearing fruits of green,
and the light looks yellow,
as the breeze
scuttles through my knees
and scatters the seeds.
A burning sun sinks,
as a shadow moon scrapes
a hazy horizon.
All anger is replaced
with restless longing.
I say I’ll surrender
my more noble desires
and learn to be
a passive kind-of free.
But, soon the sky'll turn red
and remind me
that life is too bloody and mean.
