Consumed By Addiction
A young life
Taken from his own hands
These two hands caused death
But once had a grip
Until in his palms he held
One drug that opened doors
To the beginning of the end
We hear these stories
Yet continue to believe
The same addictions
Won’t lead to fatal tragedies
It isn’t ignorance
It’s a path available to take
Causing an illogical mentality
There’s evil in dependency
It’s all to easy to perceive
“That wouldn’t happen to me”
Don’t let that be what leads
To your family watching you get buried
As they hold hands and grieve
When you had so much ahead
But at twenty-one you’re dead
