Escaping Reality
You whisper to the wind
-as if it could keep your secrets
You take refuge in the trees
-as if they could protect you
You place blame on the fire
-as if it was never your fault
You pick at the damaged blades of grass
-as if you could take away the imperfections
You see images in the clouds
-as if you could escape your reality
You look past all of the mistakes
-as if ignoring them makes them disappear
You worship the ground you walk on
-as if you could never mislead yourself
And worst of all,
You act like you understand
-as if you could ever really know.
