"I can sum up everything I've learned about life in three words: It goes on." - Robert Frost

Because maybe I want to hold her hand, and not his.
Kiss her lips, not his.
Marry her, not him.
But I can’t.
Because your laws restrict me and my happiness.
And you call me a
Feminazi
when all I really am is a
Feminist
who just wants
EQUALITY.
But that’s not going to happen. Because your heart lies with the money.
My soul is cracked
And my knuckles bruised
From fighting you,
Trying to beat you down
And all you do is laugh
Laugh at me
and my friends
who try our hardest to push down the walls of these
overcrowded and underfunded
public classrooms where learning is supposed to happen
but never really does.
The teachers aren’t paid enough to care,
and those who do are just laughed at
Just like me when I say,
"Hey, mom, I’m a vegetarian now."
If my parents can’t handle my choice not to be a zombie,
how will they react to my sexuality?
And tell me,
what are any of you doing to make any of this any better?
Nothing.
You’re doing nothing because you’re too focused on blaming each other that you can’t fix anything.
So maybe it is up to us.
Us, the kids who are growing up way too fast.
Maybe the world is in our hands now.
And I am okay with that because
I know us.
I know me and i know my friends
and I know that we will do whatever it takes
to make this world a better place.
