A mother and daughter lie cheek to cheek.
The daughter is young, not even a toddler;
The mother is a woman in the middle of life.
Peacefully they both sleep
As the world continues to turn
And the sun starts to rise
A picturesque moment just waiting to be captured
Whether on film or paint,
Or with a pen and paper
These little moments are what life adores.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece as I was on my way down to Galveston port to get on a cruise boat. The woman in this poem is my aunt and the little girl, as you can probably guess, is my cousin. I wanted to take a picture of this rather than write a poem but, as I'm sure we all know, it is very difficult to take a good picture when you're in all cramped together in one car.
