One Night
racing hearts,
 after hours -
 in his bench seat,
 places they should've been -
 like between sheets,
 fast asleep,
 but night time
 put stars into his eyes
 and they'd never looked
 as golden as
 they did looking up
 from her lap
 on a mountain,
because he's the type of boy
 to keep promises
 and the stars swear
 she's his,
 the only witness
 to his lips
 on hers
 until the music
 lulled them to sleep,
 his strong arms
 pulling her close,
 their hearts
 beating in time
 with the only thing
 they ever stole -
 one night.
