Desert night
I woke up
Under the starry desert sky
The silhouettes of the mountains like shadows
I was in your arms
Warm
Your breathing was sleepy steady
My face buried in your chest
You seemed so peaceful
In your sleep
Your intensity couldn't be detected asleep at two A.M
I felt like nothing could hurt me
Because your arms were mountains
Your eyelids the night sky
Your lips were stars
I didn't want to be anywhere else
And I thought about how happy I would be
If every night I woke up this way
And every morning, I woke to your tired eyes
And sleepy lips pulling into a smile
When you see me
