Daughter of Two Alcoholics

She'll walk through the doorway,
see the whiskey bottle
perched on the kitchen counter,
waiting to kill her mommy
and her daddy,
suck out their souls and
replace them with two red-eyed,
hollow strangers...

Walk through the doorway,
see the whiskey bottle
perched on the kitchen counter--
Just like that, her world will
s h a t t e r .

This is a poem about how it feels to be the daughter of not just one alcoholic, but two. This piece is very personal to me because I myself live with two alcoholic parents.
