Hurt Yourself
If you look at her enough
you will feel a weight drop
you will feel the fire's cuff
as it consumes you until you pop
the things that can never be
whether it is friends or lovers
the mirror will never set you free
for she just pities you like the others
If you look at her too hard
she will fade away into a shadow
when the glass breaks into a shard
of broken dreams that had to go
you know then what to do
let the train pass with flying colors
in a beehive containing only you
and a phone only ringing for tellers
If you look at her too long
her smile turns into a grimace
a dragon snarling at every gong
and you turn away as the menace
shadows part before your step
clouds churn above the tall trees
each stride walloping less prep
than a thousand fiendish bees
If you look at her for love
she will give way under pain
being swept away like a dove
but still unable to wash out that stain
so take heed to every truth
swallow your courage, as bad as fear
spit away the blood and tooth
and walk away from her this year
She is gone
