Lemonade
your lips tasted like lemonade

 we laughed at each other

you didn’t know what you were doing

 neither did I,

 really

 you pulled me close

 and you were serious

 for once

 your lips met mine

but they were gone in a second

like you were afraid I would run

 away

we tried again- and you were away from me too quickly

 the last time

I looked you in the eyes

 and I wasn't scared

 for a moment

 I reached up on tiptoes

and you picked me off the ground

you were holding me up like I

 weighed nothing

 at all

and I tasted your tongue for the first time

 the air might be poison

and this world may be cold

 but every day

 you lift me up

and I don’t remember what gravity feels like

 anymore

 I still get scared sometimes

but I think you do too

so I can say it now

 and mean it

 I love you
