Slow and Steady
Don't pretend to know my pain
You don't understand what's on my brain
You're feeling sore, your muscles ache
I hear your groans
But do you hear my heart break?
There's a quality of life I live
A certain effort I must give
You've lived a life of sheltered easy
Everything handed to you on a plate
While all on mine just made me queasy
My life has been quite a plight
I've done my best, tried to fight
You've done little to deserve your praise
I work for nothing in return
My heart is not the smile it conveys
The difference is this; that I know
Which direction I will go
