Bones of cancer
Thoughts of death
Eyes once full of life
Smile once so grand
Seems like death
Will make its rounds
Friends and family gather around
Eyes full of tears;
But don't don't make a sound
For right now he's here
Alone in his sleep without a worry
But if he wakes
The grimace of pain
Will make you break
Not enough red cells
Too many white
We put on our brave faces
But when doors are closed
Our true emotions show

The author's comments:
When my best friend got cancer, I didn't know how to cope. I turned to poetry and managed to convert how I feel into my poem. I know people who have someone close to them who has cancer will relate and maybe this can help them cope.
