Who I am
I stare at a simple statement, something broad and entirely open to any response.
I could begin to explain my heart;
And how it has been easily broken and exposed
In ways I suppose many can relate to.
But it is my strength that I must mention.
Yes, it is deeper than any pain I have felt.
God – and the love I am swimming in every second of everyday,
That’s what makes me who I am.
I am the creation of the nurturers, healers, and lovers squeezing my hand when I am quaking.
And when I am unable to balance myself—
I start to fall and am always caught.
I have been given strength to stand up and fight for what and who I believe in.
What you should know about me is this:
The person I have become due to the strength and fierceness I have witnessed
Is the person I know I was always meant to be.
Pain may be inflicted, but it is strength and confidence that is passed down,
Love and faith side by side
