Wrath of the Skies
There is a presence in the air,
you can feel before a storm;
the air is heavy and thick.
It is pulled down with the weight of the world,
and it can't hold up much longer.
The air feels thick and heavy with thoughts,
while thunder begins to stir.
It rumbles the ground as if crying out
"please help us lighten our load!"
The sky breaks and a drizzle begins,
each drop greater than the last.
The sky is letting go of its worries and woes
and they will slowly fall back to us.
A scraggly bolt of brightness
flashes across the velvet sky.
Its power too immense to contain,
yet it doesn't last longer than the blink of an eye.
The sheets of frigid water
pour down on out quiet world.
The rain is all that can be heard.
The wind picks up and directs the drops
to follow wherever it goes.
Thunder strikes once more
a loud, deafening blow,
every inch can feel its wrath.
Nothing is safe from its rocks and shakes,
the heavens are angry now.
