Trick of the Mind
It’s all a fun game, or is it?
For we try to an extent to keep ourselves collected and tame;
But it is soon shrugged away by the visit
Of unexpected beauty and beautiful smiles,
Of laughter for no reason which goes on for miles,
As we stress and worry,
There should come a time to realize that—there is no hurry;
For at times we only remember the perpetual agonies
And forget the endless redeeming qualities;
Time spent with family and friends, walking through memories
But also meeting the unknown and forming new stories;
These, the simplest joys of all
Show that there is no reason to cry over the smallest fall
At the moment we are concerned but in the long run
We have learned
Through our friends and our supposed mistakes
We begin to notice how much it takes
To be ourselves and compete in this game of tomorrow
And to put away a sorrow,
Standing back we reminisce and laugh
But at that exact time we couldn’t even do half
Finally, finally, I see that every single decision
With intense precession
Should not be pursued as so serious and important
But we shouldn't feel so burdened
For we have many opportunities to try and try
To tease and taunt, to laugh and just accept the truths we can no longer deny
life is life but there is no reason to stop loving it
And at last we see the path that has been sweetly lit;
For life is a challenge, we should live up to it,
And life is a game, we should play it
We trick ourselves into thinking that the right way is to keep ourselves collected and tame;
But that in itself --is a game
