Of Dreams and Paper

Once upon a time I dared to dream a dream,

A dream that I knew life would never allow me,

Life, with its harsh reality,

I knew that life would try to take away my dream,

Try to destroy it,

Take my dream and crush it,

Making sure that I would never dream again,

So that I would understand the power of life,

And what it does to those who dare to dream,

So when life came knocking on my door,

For fear of loosing my dream,

I grabbed a pen and paper,

And I put my dream on to my paper,

In to my words,

I put my dream in a place where life could never
reach it,

Where life could never say that it could not come true,

That it was pure fantasy,

Ridiculous,

Because on paper,

Fantasy is a good thing,

On paper,

My dreams can come true,

Then I took my paper,

And I spread it to the world,

I gave it to children,

To teach them that dreams are wonderful things,

To inspire them to dare to dream their own dreams,

And to tell them that dreams can always come true,

I gave it to adults,

To remind them that once upon a time they used to dream,

And to teach them that life does not always win,

I gave my dream to the world,

So that my dream could help others to do what I could not,

So that they can dream an impossible dream,

And they can fight life tooth and nail,

To make their dreams,

Come true,

Because you see a dream is a powerful thing,

But when dreams and paper combine,

They can hold the coveted title,

That so few things in this universe can hold,

Magic.

When dreams and paper combine,

They make something stronger than life,

Something that shines brighter than the darkest sorrow of reality,

Something that can never be extinguished,

When you dream on paper,

You can change the world,

And you see,

I have plenty of paper,

And I have plenty,

Of dreams.

I officially hereby grant you the Kiki award, which clarifies that Dylan McCoy, the chosen poet, is an all around amazing author that needs to be heard by all in order to understand the meaning of a dream. OMG Dylan, stop being so perf.
