He used to kill her with kindness
Sweetly saying her name
As if he was singing a song
She used to think she was awfully lucky
To have such a kind, sweet man
Then she began to realize
That quickly drew to a close
In a chunk of time

And hit her with a bat
Time after time
She begged please don’t hit me
He said she was acting like a big baby
She felt like there was no way out
He said she liked it
He said nothing more
His reply was a smack on the back
She fell flat on the mat
She bit her tongue
And wondered
Why why why
