Crossroads
Only standing in foreign roads
Can we find the missing
Pieces of ourselves.
Known intersections take us to
Consistency, and strengthen final destinations
Of what is the now.
These untrodden avenues yield delightful
Uncertainty of change unreachable
To the cyclic trap of familiarity.
And change comes from untouched places,
From which comes the raw and
Unknown potential that rests
Within our present beings, locked
By routine and restricted by the fear
Of leaving what ir is we know and love.
So I take my first few steps
Out of daily paths worn down
To reach the places unknown.
Because only when we wander
Down unfamiliar paths
Can we define our true selves.
