When I was Little
When I was little,
I thought I was big.
The world revolved around me,
And listened to what I said.
When I was little,
I played all day.
I had two neighborhood friends.
We dressed up Barbie’s,
In my hot pink room,
And experimented with makeup.
We dirtied our feet in wet grass
While looking for rollie-pollies,
And played chase through the streets.
My days were never boring,
Or repetitive,
My life was full of fun.
When I was little,
I thought the ABC’s were hard,
But my handwriting was decent.
Big, blocky letters
That stood out on the page,
Made by stubby little fingers.
My biggest challenge,
Was remembering how to spell my name.
I-T-Z-E-L
When I was little,
It was all fun and games.
No worries or stress.
Now I have responsibilities,
And lots of work.
But I am still little,
And I am still growing.
