Tears
I stand there staring at the light blue door
But it’s not the door I’m captivated by, it’s what’s on it
Right in front of me is a carved portrait of Poseidon, god of the sea
He is golden like a ray of sun, strong and fierce
Except for his eyes, as I look closer I see he is weeping
Weeping tears of loneliness
Unable to stare into the eyes of sadness I turn the rusty sea green door knob
As I do Poseidon seems to smile
Even with the door open just a crack I can fell a warm salty breeze
As I step through the door soft white sand creeps into my shoes
And I hear the waves softly weep
I drift towards the water and slowly dip my toes into the great azure
At the moment of my touch the waves weeping changes to a soft singing whisper
As I take notice of the wave’s new song I let my eyes wander
My feet leave the water and lead me towards the languished palm trees
I wrap my arms around the slouching tree and it seems to perk up
Almost as if it had just stopped weeping
Weeping tears of loneliness
I stroll over to the wilting bed of tropical, once bright colored flowers
I run my fingers over the petals and the flowers lift their faces to me
Almost as if they had just fell out of a trance of sorrow and loneliness
As I take in the sights of this beautiful place I realize it is a place of perfection
But for so many years it has gone hidden and without love
Love is a profoundly tender passionate affection
Without such an emotion nothing could help but weep
Weep tears of loneliness
