The Thread
under my skin there are roses
and I will show them the sun
rinsing off my home and shedding
tears for this
I hear a call in the distance
but I am already done
my standard is unlisted
I have no constant
each night I disappear
and with every morning I've returned from another world
The prices I pay for those drugs
are most of my memories
But I don't need pictures to know I was doing alright then
The scarf round my head lets me know
I'm still breathing
It goes the same with the tangles in my hair
This sunburn
it's a contract of life
a badge and I'm here
I'm here
I watch the blades of the fan dance
and hear the slow drip of my sustenance
Creaking noises from beneath my head
from under the point of living
The finest lines
in the world
divide us in that place
the bedrooms for the fallen
