Sipping sweet tea and blasting country music on the porch in North Carolina, that’s what I look forward to when school gets out.
Going to a church where everyone feels welcome, that’s our southern hospitality.
Getting confused by everyone’s southern drawl, that’s what I miss.
Being called, “honey” or “baby” by little old ladies, that’s just how we do it in the south.
Eating as much hush puppies, fried chicken, and biscuits as I can possibly fit in my mouth, that’s my comfort food.
Jumping into the lake from tree’s twenty-five feet above, that’s the redneck stupidity I love.
Driving four wheelers down dirt roads, that’s the thrill I can’t wait to feel.
Seeing people’s initials on everything they own, that’s just normal down here.
Having mosquitoes attack you at every waking moment, that’s not something I enjoy.
Leaving you doors unlocked at night because you can trust your neighbors, that’s something I envy.
Boarding that plane back home, that’s the worst part.
