The Unknown Abyss

As I go on my way, trudging through life,
Never knowing what could happen next,
Teetering on the constant edge of unconsciousness.
One side lies impending death;
An end to the pain, and the suffering.
The other lies the empty life I have yet to fulfill;
A life unexpectedly full,
But with a covert love for my best friend.
Which way to lean? Which way to fall?
My decision being made,
I begin to take a step back into life.
But the force of death washes over me,
Thrusting me into an unknown abyss beyond consciousness.
