The Penny Seal
his sincerity surprises me, leaves me
scrambling to piece together the invisible jigsaw
that is my future.
my life is not what i want it to be
but i am secure inside its familiar embrace
i ask "why seattle?" why so far
away. he says because
life should not be comfortable
safe
or easy.
it doesn't answer the question
and yet
somehow
i am left with more
than one person can ponder alone
sitting in my grandfather's old chair
in the summer twilight
