"Too often the marks humans leave are scars"-- John Green

Every classroom full of lies
Hiding the cries that lie inside
First row sits a girl being sexually abused at home
Behind her is a bow whose father beats him because
He looks too much like dead Mom
The kid who collects attendance is anorexic
The teachers-pet had cuts on her arms and thighs,
Keeping the tears inside
But everybody turns a blind eye
Students sit with lips sewed shut
Teachers teach with eyes shut tight
So no one sees what happens at night
Nobody hears the muffled cries
As piece by piece they slowly die
So nobody sees
And nobody speaks
About the trauma they feel
And the tragedy they see
So day after day
we sit here and say
Were fine, don't mind us
As they stand before us
They avert their eyes
From the truth we hold inside
Choosing to believe the lies that sit on our lips
So within these Hallowed Halls of Knowledge
Nobody knows anything
And so we all sit
With lips sewed shut
And eyes shut tight

I wrote when I was feeling overwhelmed at school, nobody seems to see how really messed up teenagers are, they just assume were over reacting.
