Pretty little girl in pig-tails,
Freckled boy with a toothless grin,
A circle of giggling faces gathers at recess,
Taunting, nudging, Kiss him. Kiss her.
He closes his eyes, and she takes one-step forward.
Panic. Wait, on the lips?
They lean in closer so their lips brush, and
As if a jolt of electricity passes through them,
They run away, screaming and laughing, in the other direction.
This is love.

The boys stomp through the hallways,
Filling the air with their new AXE and Old Spice, smirking
At the group of girls huddled against their lockers.
Text him a winky face and
Make sure you’re Facebook official.
And you have to hug at the end of the day,
Or else he’s obviously mad at you and you’re over.
Don’t wear too much eyeliner and if he grabs your hand,
Make sure you don’t squeeze too tight
So many rules, but it doesn’t matter
This is love.

Oh God, he’s standing right there. Can he not look so gorgeous?
Quick. Walk by him slowly, but don’t make eye contact.
Throw in a smile or something; you’re not trying to scare him away.
I think he’s looking now. Say something.
“Hey” (voice crack) act casual, maybe he didn’t notice.
Cosmo did not prepare me for this.
A head nod. He just nodded his head.
Of course I picked today to look like a complete pile.
He just winked. My heart is going to explode.
He’s perfect, he likes me
This is love.
