Once so small, trying to hide

No strength inside but a dream to hold

Grasping faintly as time flew by.

But strong enough to hear what she was told

For her mother would say I love you so,

You're my beautiful darling she was told

Her mind thought how is that possible

I am not like that but as time flew by she tightened her grasp

On to the dream once forgotten

She now believed she was the girl her mother talked to long ago

She was strong and beautiful

She thought as she looked in the mirror

For this was her without the fear

When I was younger I had a hard time believing and accepting myself as a confident and self-assured person. Although when I grew older I realized that through knowing and accepting who I am and loving myself I'm able to take down any obstacle that comes my way.
