Dripping with Diamonds
I feel the cold wet grass beneath my back, giving me goose bumps and sending shivers down my back
I stare into the black canvas above me
But the canvas means nothing to me; it is the paint that dances across it that matters to me
I see the sky, dripping with diamonds along with one big pearl off to the right
But it is not the pearl that makes me come out here every night in the freezing cold
It is not the center piece that attracts my attention
It is not the the star of the show that catches my eye, it is the back-up dancers who pull the performance together
I feel the galactic gleam soak my face, with its warmth, mystery, and the infinity behind it
I look up at the spots of glitter in the sky, and I wonder, why they don’t burn out or fade
I look deeper and think about the youth in the stars, and how it never goes away
This tells me something that I now live by, never lose the kid in you
As the night slowly hypnotizes me into a deep fatigue, I know it is time for us to depart
I slowly stand up
Kiss the stars goodnight
And let their mystery and love drown me until we meet again
I know that the glistening angels above me watch me as I sleep, and wake me up early to let me know that they will be going away for the day
And I long to see the sky, dripping with diamonds
