The World Inside
Billowing smoke covering
The silvery white walls
In eternal black.
Marking the day the world
Around us is forgotten
And the world
Inside us
Lives.
The world inside,
While twisted till it meets
The vicious wants
And unquenchable desires,
Is still a daydream
When laid next
To the
Nightmare we've
Created without knowing it
Was ours
To shape.
Yet the hands of our
Inner worlds reached through,
Twisting it into
A thousand versions
Of our hearts' desires,
Creating nothing but the death
Of the realities
Created by our inner
Monsters.
Our burning hunger
For
Perfection
Set fire to the surrounding
Air,
Engulfing the ruins
Of dreams.
Dreams that were destroyed
As our reality-starved
Minds,
Realizing in the heat of the fire,
Dropped them to
The dirt
As we ran from
What we had started.
The world we wanted
Had become a
Nightmare, a
Nightscare.
The only escape from it being
To crawl further
Into ourselves
Till the only thing
In front of us
Was our forgotten
Dream world,
The world
Inside
Of us.
