Home is Where the Heart is
The sweet waft of a steaming caramel cappuccino
Opening up my pores with every breath
Completely relaxed, and safe
As I begin to doze off
I’m captivated by the feel of my soft blankets
The soothing sound of rain steadily hitting the ground
The occasional flash of light,
And the following thunder,
Push me closer and closer to sleep
Before
I begin dreaming, I sip my cappuccino
The bite of the bittersweet wakes me
But only for a moment,
Then, I slip into my mind
At first, I see nothing.
An empty, black, bottomless pit,
Suddenly it gains color,
A flourish of color, all bright and dazzling.
Then, in the distance
I see my home:
My sanctuary,
My joy.
I am awakened by a sudden burst of thunder
Only to find myself filled with a relaxing happiness
After all,
Home is where the heart is,
And my heart
Is in my home
