Juice boxes and pigtails
Pretty leaves in the fall
Playing around with toy trucks
That were a little too small
To elementary we go
Back to no drama at all
Where the only thing that really mattered
Was the one kid who was tall
Now we’re off to the middle
Between elementary and high school
Where the only thing that really mattered
Was the one kid who was cool
Friends that said they’d be there
Enemies that only laugh
That one and only person
Who can really take you back
Take a step up to high school
Exams, quizzes, and tests
Alarm clocks, sports, and parties
You cannot get enough rest
Slow down! Slow down!
Life’s going way too fast
Just got out of college
Barely even passed
Now I guess I really do
Have to find a job
Keep on going forward
Never try to stop
How can something go so fast
Yet keep standing still?
Can’t believe I’m already 50
Life is such a thrill
Now I am almost at
The end of the line
Don’t know how I keep on going
I never even whine
Say goodbye. Fake a smile
Put in one last wavin’
Now the only one who really matters
Is the one who I believe in
Now I am rising up
I am courageous and bold
I see the light and look down
Upon the streets of gold.
