Where I'm From

I’m from the wooden swing set in the front yard,
not knowing where to go but swinging
cluelessly in the warm summer wind.
I am from the small tides running through the lake,
rapidly rushing fast in a way only the wind allows.
I’m from the flowers that my mother grows,
to create a lifetime of beauty.
A bundle of colors, planted into the ground.
I am from the feeling of misted rain,
on a foggy yellow-skied evening.
I’m from late spring days,
early summer mornings.
I am from the seasons changing,
as our lives change too.
