Not One True View
There are so many vantage points from which we are seen.
The oceans that waver our goals,
Demanding us to be perfect from our heads to our soles.
These oceans look and judge us just by knowing a single gene.
Looking at the reflective silver portraying who you think you are,
Does it really show the truth of what lies above and below?
Through the changes of waves and storms, does it really show?
These vantage points are really bizarre.
Those second glances we see when we walk,
Those concrete reflections after a storm change our image.
After witnessing these, it’s like carrying around an extra appendage.
These second thoughts really are a cause for talk.
The fogged over glass you stare into each morning,
Tricks your reflection into thinking it’s fine,
But when clear, it lies in the blink of an eye.
This cloudy image is a sure sign of warning.
That forever captured memory taped in a book,
Or printed, and put on the wall in a frame.
Those reminiscences stake quite the claim,
But can you really use these to see how you look?
All these views cause opinions to worsen.
So many visions and prototypes are made up worldwide,
But have you ever actually seen yourself on the outside?
Have you ever seen yourself in person?
