The past

The amount of hate I had for you was a disgrace
Your my father to love me
Not to bother and hurt me
You messed with my emotions
And you blamed me for the commotion.
I've tried to forget but I haven't dealt
With the regret.
Maybe because I'm not ready
Or physically not steady.
The past has messed me up
It all hit me so fast
I try and backtrack
But it's like a knife to my back.
A memory I wish I could bury
Because emotionally
it's too Much to carry.

My past battle with violence at home inspired me to write this poem. I'm hoping that people will be able to relate and feel like they're not the only ones who have gone through or are going through violence at home or a divorce. I'm hoping that this poem will touch hearts.
