Secrets Inside
She hides her pain,
Behind lidded eyes,
Her clouded mind,
Wandering freely.
She looks on,
To the one she loves,
But her heart shudders,
As the feelings are unrequited.
He consoles her tears,
Wondering what monster,
Dares,
To cause her so much pain.
Her suffering is shown,
Through the scars of her hands,
She tucks them away,
Like the rest of herself.
Her sleeves are raised,
One fateful day,
He notices the lines of loss,
And recoils at a thought,
Could it be?
That it is he,
That made her lose her way,
On the path of life,
Straying away,
From her bright destination?
She holds a moment,
The gaze put upon her,
But shies away,
When she realizes,
He knows,
Of the years gone by,
Alone in her fears,
Of never telling a soul,
Of her one true wish.
He grabs her hand,
The wounds now bore,
She feels ashamed,
And tries to pull away,
He shakes his head,
Pulling her into an embrace,
Three words revealed,
She had longed to hear,
And tears sprang again,
No longer of sadness,
But of unhindered happiness.
