The Lost One
They were talking and laughing.
This was the best time of their lives.
It suddenly came out of nowhere.
Glass shattered and he heard a crunch
It should’ve been him he said.
He was the one driving.
She should’ve still been here,
And he should’ve been dead.
He talked to no one.
The guilt weighed heavily upon his shoulders.
Friends tried to comfort him,
But he shook them off.
The one thing people didn’t know;
That day that his girlfriend died,
Two people had died.
She was physically dead,
But he had died on the inside.
He walked around with no purpose.
He felt he had nothing to live for.
He just wandered around day after day,
Like the lost one he had become.
