Gleaming yet graceful the river ripples from a light zephyr.
The water is enticing and kisses me with a chill.
With one foot dipped in, I feel a sting, and a kick.
A gasp of air becomes a suave dive in.
As I take my leap I’m only to find a mirage.
This water is frigid and was a misconception.
Life is a delusion and people live in a fantasy world.
“The grass is greener on the other side”
But that’s not always accurate.
Sometimes you get a piece of black licorice in a cherry bag.
Effects aren’t always as they appear.

People think that everything is better on the other side but sometimes, like this river, it turns out to be cold.
